Are aesthetic veneers the right choice for you?

They say that a smile is the first thing someone will notice about you. Do you show your smile with pride or do you hide it because of shame and dissatisfaction? If you are in this second group and do not have the confidence to smile honestly, aesthetic veneers are the right solution for you!

Aesthetic veneers today represent the standard when we talk about aesthetic smile transformations.

With their help, it is possible to correct the colour, shape, size and minor deviations in the position of the teeth as well as the distance between the front teeth – diastema.

The main advantage of the therapy with aesthetic veneers lies in the fact that they enable a minimally invasive approach, considering that for them grinding is either not necessary or is limited only to the front surface of the teeth, while the other parts of the teeth are preserved and intact.

Are ceramic veneers the only type of veneer?

Ceramic veneers are the most popular type of veneers, but today, in addition to them, thanks to the development of highly aesthetic composite materials, there are also composite veneers.

The next question that logically arises would be: “What are the differences between them and which is better?”

Both composite and ceramic veneers have the advantages that make them indicated in different clinical situations.

The two biggest advantages of composite veneers are the possibility of making them in one visit and the absence of the need for teeth grinding.

Namely, they are made by the so-called “injection technique” during which a highly aesthetic composite material is injected into the teeth through a special silicone mould. Given that it is a method of adding material, they are indicated in situations where, for some reason, we have a lack of dental tissue.

Ceramic veneers usually require grinding of the front surface of the teeth, but this also allows them to correct larger aesthetic deviations.

A greater number of visits are required for their production because the sanding is followed by the stage of taking an impression, as well as a certain number of work samples. Once made, ceramic veneers remain permanent without the possibility of changing colour or material wear.

What are the prerequisites for making aesthetic veneers?

Given that veneers are primarily used to reconstruct the aesthetics of the smile, it is very important that all teeth are previously repaired and healthy so that the function of the stomatognathic system is not impaired.

In addition to healthy teeth, the main prerequisite is healthy gums, without which it is not possible to achieve a satisfactory aesthetic result.

Before making aesthetic veneers, we also recommend in-office whitening so that the colour of future veneers can be as bright as possible.

But the first and main step is certainly a detailed analysis and planning of therapy. It is carried out for each patient individually and includes photography, smile design – digital smile design and taking impressions of the initial situation based on which the technician creates a wax-up, i.e. the design of future aesthetic veneers.

The same design can be transferred to the patient’s mouth, before any grinding, so that he can see the result and express his suggestions and wishes regarding the appearance of the future teeth, thus participating in the creation of his perfect smile.
