Endodontics – Root Canal Treatment

Endodontics, better known as root canal treatment, is a key segment of dental medicine focused on preserving teeth affected by deep decay, infection, or trauma. This specialized procedure not only saves a tooth from extraction but also restores its functionality and aesthetics. At Esthea Clinic, we apply advanced endodontic techniques to ensure high treatment success and patient comfort.

When is this treatment needed?

Tooth treatment becomes necessary when an infection or inflammation develops inside the tooth, known as the pulp. The pulp, rich in nerves and blood vessels, can become damaged for various reasons, including deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the same tooth, cracks or fractures in the tooth, and injuries to the tooth that may cause damage even if there are no visible cracks. Symptoms indicating the need for treatment can range from mild to severe pain, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold food and drinks, darkening of the tooth, and swelling and pain in the gums around the affected tooth. In some cases, the infection may be present without any symptoms, so regular dental check-ups are essential for early detection and treatment.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms indicating the need for endodontic treatment often include tooth sensitivity to hot and cold food or drinks, pain while chewing, swelling around the tooth, a change in tooth color, and the appearance of an abscess. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important to contact your dentist promptly for a detailed examination.

What does the treatment process look like?

The endodontic treatment begins with the removal of infected or damaged tissue from inside the tooth. Afterward, the root canals are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to remove bacteria. Finally, the canals are filled with biocompatible materials, and the tooth is restored using a crown or filling, returning its strength and natural appearance. Thanks to modern machine endodontic techniques and the use of local anesthesia, most patients experience minimal discomfort during and after the procedure.
